NYPD Auxiliary Petition

New York City Auxiliary Police Officers Citywide Precincts & Auxiliary Officers of New York City And Concerned Citizens.

As you may know Auxiliary police officers are a volunteer civilian force although we are among the largest in the nation we are foreshadowed by many drawbacks. We serve our communities like our fellow armed auxiliary brothers and sisters around the nation but we cannot help but feel inadequate when compared to them. We wear the same uniforms as regular officers with the highest honor and respect and patrol the same neighborhoods with less training, outdated gear, and no form of protection or respect from the community. The list below is just an example of some of the respective bills that may or may not be in consideration and or suggestions that our members would like too see become a possibility. Please keep in mind these are only suggestions that members believe to be sufficient to quality of life in this post 9/11 world. The duties of auxiliary police officers have expanded since the program was first started and with it new training and opportunities should advance also, keep in mind that civilians may carry pepper spray as the respective Penal Law 265.20 14 states but an auxiliary police officer performing every day service to their community may not cause of fear of liability we are not given proper training nor equipment for our daily patrol .If you assault a MTA employee it is a felony but if you assault a Auxiliary Police Officer it is a misdemeanor. We the Auxiliary Officers and the Respective New York City Police Department set forth the same goal and that goal is too preserve life, we would like to be recognized as part of that family and not as an outcast or threat. Many of us are afraid to come forward, others feel that no matter what they would say nothing would be done this document is our voices.
