President-Elect Take Action
We can't even tell you how angry we are about both the crass nature of
> the Obama speech writer's behavior and the (so far) handling of this
> activity by the Obama gov't. What is the point of vetting someone
> for a position if you tolerate something like this. I realize it is
> a cardboard sign, but in my humble opinion this is a rally for date
> rape as well as a degradation of a specific and accomplished woman.
> Similarly if a president-elect or even senator-elect hung a noose
> around Obama while drunk at a party with pictures boasting of this
> all on the internet, you can bet there would need to be a public
> apology to not just Obama but all black people and those who have
> suffered through this historical cruelty.
>
> A wrist slap is not excepted.. We demand an apology along with all women, teachers, mentors, mother and grandmothers and especially
> Hillary and Obama's daughters. This behavior is overtly sexist and
> advocates the mistreatment of women. Simultaneously sending a
> message that women in positions of power will be treated like disrespectful.
> If a similar historical act of violence was threatened in a racial
> context, this would be tolerated.
>
> This message may be too strong for some, but sexism and racism is not
> a pretty topic.
>
> Yet, how many black people are hung daily in the US Today? Or burned
> on crosses? Numbers for any day in December of 2008 are fine.
> And how many women are raped daily in the US Today? (Low estimates
> are 3 women are raped every minute for every single day. Another low
> estimate is 1 in 3 American women will be raped.)
>
> So advocating date rape and denigrating one of the most well-known
> and powerful American woman in public politics (one of very few mind
> you) isn't just denigrating her. But advocating disrespect of all
> women!
>
> This is worse incite of violence than even if say, someone put
> burning crosses on the white house lawn.
>
> What are the leading causes of death among black people in the US?
> What is the leading causes of death among women in the US? Murder by
> men is a leading cause of death of US women.
>
> And how many black people are paid less because they are black?
> And how many women are paid less because they are women?
>
> And how many black people are kept down and not promoted because of
> their race?
> And how many women are kept down and not promoted because of their sex?
>
> And what percentage of black people are in the USA? Approx. 8-12%
> And what percentage of women are in the USA? Approx. 54%
>
> Now We not trying to pit the causes against one another, but many
> people certainly have. We would argue this with this same speech writer. Obama's campaign and the media sources (owned by energy companies who will use Obama as their pawn).. were very tapped into finding racial anger among racial minorities and working for their support.. But women have been denigrated (first Senator Clinton soon to be Secretary of state, then Govenor Palin, and now Secretary of State Condolezza Rice, and now Senator Clinton again) Every woman running for political office or in power but the overt sexism, disrespect because of sex and sexual hostility is intolerable no matter who the victim.
>
> 54% This is why women are tortured, raped, killed, humiliated,
> denigrated, insulted, ignored, ect. Powers that be try to separate
> us with each act of disrespect because if we could stand up together
> we would be a majority.
