"Men and women shall have equal rights throughout the United States and every place subject to its jurisdiction." - Alice Paul, 1921

It's been 90 years since suffragist Alice Paul wrote these words, yet the U.S. still hasn't passed the  Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). This Women's History Month, demand a change, and call for equal rights for all Americans!

On International Women's Day, Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) introduced legislation to speed ratification of the ERA to the Constitution.

As Baldwin said, passage of the ERA "is an immediate and decisive remedy to end sex discrimination in federal and state laws and provides a clear benchmark for judicial interpretation."

Congress passed the ERA in 1972, and the measure was just three states shy of full ratification when the state deadline passed in 1982.

Baldwin's legislation removes the deadline for ratification and clarifies that upon ratification by three additional states, the Equal Rights Amendment will be added to the United States Constitution.

Call on Congress to support Baldwin's legislation and ratify the ERA!

We the undersigned call on the House Judiciary Committee to approve H. J. Res. 47: Removing the deadline for the ratification of the equal rights amendment, and Congress to support the legislation introduced by Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) to speed ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the Constitution.

As Representative Baldwin has said, passage of the ERA "is an immediate and decisive remedy to end sex discrimination in federal and state laws and provides a clear benchmark for judicial interpretation.

The American people have been waiting long enough! Now is the time to put the ERA on the fast track towards ratification.
