SAVE HEREFORDSHIRE'S SCHOOLS!

  • mottagare: Prevent the closing or merging of up to 40 Herefordshire Schools

Herefordshire Council%u2019s education reorganisation plans could result in the merging of up to 36 primary and four high schools with a number of proposed closures of existing sites. Some sixth forms will also close.

Lib Dem opposition leader Terry James has described the scheme as %u201Cappalling%u201D. Some of the schools set for closure or merging are oversubscribed and many are well attended, successful and have a reputation for high quality delivery of the curriculum.

Schools set for mergers include:

High schools:
%u2022 The Minister College and Queen Elizabeth Humanities College
%u2022 Kingstone High School and Fairfield High School

Primary schools:
%u2022 Bredenbury and Pencombe CE
%u2022 Brockhampton and Whitbourne CE
%u2022 Brampton Abbotts CE and St Joseph's RC
%u2022 Kings Caple and Little Dewchurch
%u2022 Lea CE and Weston under Penyard CE
%u2022 Llangrove CE and Whitchurch CE
%u2022 St Weonard's and Garway
%u2022 Clehonger CE and Kingstone and Thruxton
%u2022 Ewyas Harold and Longtown
%u2022 Michaelchurch Escley and Peterchurch
%u2022 Leominster Primary to amalgamate with Leominster Infants and Juniors
%u2022 Canon Pyon CE, Dilwyn CE and Weobley
%u2022 Shobdon and Pembridge
%u2022 Almeley and Eardisley CE
%u2022 Bosbury CE and Eastnor Parochial
%u2022 Sutton and Withington
%u2022 Mordiford CE and Holme Lacy

I, the undersigned, believe the planned education reorganisation is destructive to the success and well being of both the local and wider community and does not serve to further the quality of education provided for the counties learners. I believe it is vital to our rural communities that local educational institutions remain open and are suitably funded.
