In the UK essential services are being cut, yet many luxury goods remain untaxed, i.e. VAT excempt. If some of those goods were taxed, it would raise money that the government could spend on vital public services.
Dear Chancellor of the Exchequer,
Due to a short fall in taxes, many vital public services in the UK have had to be cut. However, if the government imposed VAT upon luxury goods that are currently zero rated, this money could be used to help fund vital public services. Those products are all luxury items: buscuits, cakes, tea, coffee, cocoa, premade sandwiches, salt (culinary)
