Encourage Nevada to Move Forward with Animal Cruelty Registry

Animal cruelty is on an up spiral nationwide and such issues seem to continue throughout the state of Nevada.  My goal is to work state-by-state so that animals receive the protection they deserve through an animal cruelty registry. Nevada currently does not have such a database but they are concerned about animal issues that exist throughout the state.  You can read more at http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/nevada-proposal-would-create-registry-fight-animal-cruelty

Lawmakers are attempting to create laws against animal cruelty that would also include a ban on pet ownership among other stipulations.  My hope is that an animal cruelty registry would be similar in effectiveness as those for sex offenders and child abusers. The proposed database would require that anyone convicted of any type of animal abuse be listed on this registry.  All pertinent and personal information of the offender would be required and need to be updated on a regular basis, remaining on the registry for a lifetime.  Additionally, once convicted of abusing or neglecting an animal in anyway, such persons should be banned from future animal ownership or even working with or caring for them.  These steps might seem critical but this is the only method of speaking out and protecting those that cannot protect themselves, defenseless animals.

My effort in this petition is to encourage the Nevada State Legislators to move forward in implementing and strictly enforcing an animal cruelty registry.  You can help me with this crucial matter by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own comments and thoughts in favor of protecting animals.

Nevada State Legislators – I strongly urge you to implement and strictly enforce an animal cruelty registry would be similar in effectiveness as those for sex offenders and child abusers.
