Protect our high schoolers

During the school year of 2022, and other school years, I have witnessed to many close calls with fast drivers not watching for children in the crosswalk near Shawano High School. I believe there a few different approches that can be made to help reduce the chances of a child being struck by a car in the cross walk. Stop & go lights More police patrol to stop these drivers from driving recklessly. A crossing guard that can stop traffic and help slow the speed when children are crossing. Or, flashing lights at each corner of the intersection that the children can press when they are ready to cross. The flashing light is what helps drivers realize there is someone crossing outside of an intersection. Take a defensive approach and scan the road to make sure vehicles are yielding before stepping into the roadway.
