At Stoneham High School, there has been a lack of communication about anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses burdening the kids. Although health class covers these topics, the students should be reminded that they have resources available and that they're not alone. Also, we have asked the guidance department for such an assembly in the past but nothing was done about it. Mental Health needs to be a priority and there needs to be a discussion about it. We are trying to start a petition in order to get the school to have a school-wide assembly (preferably yearly) to discuss mental health of the student body. The NAN project has come for health class but they, or an alternative group, could also possibly come for an assembly for the whole student body. This assembly can be optional, knowing there will be people who have triggers regarding these topics, but we believe it is necessary to bring these discussions to light.
