Demand Apology for Boy Scout Molestation Cover-up

The Boy Scouts of America actively encouraged its leaders to help cover up hundreds of molestation cases within troupes.

First came excuses. Officials claimed they didn't want to embarrass victims by persecuting the predators. Over 125 molesters went on to win medals and earn the respect of their communities, some while repeating offenses. Others were let go quietly, so as not to taint their reputations.

Meanwhile, the scouts these men took advantage of watched and said nothing for years.

For them, action always came last. The children's safety was not a priority.

Two years ago, the Boy Scouts finally started requiring that any suspicion about potential abuse must be reported to local authorities. But for hundreds of scouts, this requirement came far too late.

Demand a formal apology from the Boy Scouts of America for encouraging cover up operations around Scout Officials' child abuse!

Dear Boy Scouts of America Officials,

The active, ongoing cover up of reported cases of child sexual abuse in your organization is both disturbing and obscene. Hundreds of Boy Scouts entrusted you with their wellbeing, and you abused your authority by allowing them to endure abuses. You then made excuses for not bringing their molesters to justice.

The Boy Scouts of America owes an apology to every child you has ever suffered at the hands of a leader. I urge you to be transparent about your inability to react properly in the face of child abuse and to apologize for every child harmed while participating in your program.

Sincerely,
[Your name]
