Tell Washington State Bishop -- Same-Sex Couples Deserve the Same Recognition!

Bishop Blase J. Cupich wants his parishioners to vote "Reject" on Referendum 74 in Washington, which will decide whether the state upholds their marriage equality law.

He provided a series of arguments for his stance, including that heterosexual people will no longer receive special recognition. Cupich said that the state will no longer show the "irreplaceable contribution and sacrifice" that husbands and wives make, ignoring the fact that same-sex couples make the same contributions and sacrifices to their partners and families.

He also believes marriage equality will make traditional marriage lose "its unique identity" and that it's not about equal rights, but about changing this identity.

Please tell Bishop Blase J. Cupich that same-sex couples deserve the same recognition, respect, and rights as opposite-sex couples!

Dear Bishop Blase J. Cupich,

I am writing today because of comments you made concerning marriage equality in the state of Washington, where people will vote on Referendum 74 (this will decide whether the state upholds the marriage equality law or not).

You told your parishioners to vote "Reject" for this, and provided some arguments as to why. One was that straight couples will no longer receive special recognition, and another was that marriage equality will make traditional marriage lose "its unique identity".

Same-sex couples deserve the same respect, recognition, and rights as opposite-sex couples.

Thank you for your time.
