END BULLFIGHTING IN SPAIN - QUESERO - THE MARTYRED BULL OF TAFALLA 

 The young bull Quesero broke into the stands at a bullfight in Tafalla, Spain on August 18th, 2010 in a mighty protest for his kind. His rage was aimed at the injustice of the centuries, at the cruelty of human beings in the name of sport.  Whilst this was not a traditional bullfight, it was a contest of recortadores in which the participants try to avoid the bull while staying as close as possible, teasing and tormenting, so it may as well be called a bullfight. Enough is enough!  Quesero has been killed but he will be forever remembered as a martyr for his kind.  It is time to stop this cruelty!

We the undersigned wish to submit this letter to the President of Spain.

 BAN BULLFIGHTING IN SPAIN   [QUESERO - THE MARTYRED BULL OF TAFALLA]

Dear President Jose Luis Rodgriguez Zapatero,

We wish to alert you to the fact that your national sport of  bullfighting is a cruel and unjust sport.    We are aware that this sport has been a tradition for centuries and it is very difficult to make changes, however times are changing and we are moving away from the barbaric practices of the middle ages.  Mahatma Gandhi rightly said that the greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated!

 We believe that you are a fair and just man and we have seen the recent ban on bullfighting in Catalonia.  This is a huge step forward and we applaud you and your country for this.

It is now time to step into the 21st century and forget the practices of the past.

We honour the mighty bull, Quesero who broke through the railing in Tafalla on Wednesday August 18th, 2010.  We oppose this bloody sport and we are relying on your integrity and compassion to be the first leader of Spain to finally see reason.

This brave bull is a martyr and a scapegoat for all of his kind.  This brave animal has stood up to the injustice of the centuries!  How can human beings treat animals in this inhumane way?  We look forward to only seeing pictures of this sport on the pages of history books.
