Hello,
My name is Darlene Avery- Lamar. My daughter, Ebony Swaby was murdered at the hands of her child’s father. On May 7, 2016 I lose my daughter, I also lose my granddaughter to the system. Dec 7, 2016 marked the seventh month anniversary of my daughter’s passing. It was also the day that The Department of Children and Families, Waterbury office decided they were not going to place my granddaughter in my care. I have successfully completed every task required of me. Yet they say she cannot be placed in my care. Due to my husband and I being separated. They assume I have no support system without him. First, let me say their wrong. My support system is strong. Second, there are hundreds of thousands of single parents who successfully raise children on their own. The judge can overturn DCF’s decision.
