The Department of Defense needs to start honoring their military working dogs properly

We have had dogs as part of our military for as long as we have had a standing army, with many of those dogs acquitting themselves as honorably as their human counterparts.

With that history, it is long overdue to end the ban on awarding decorations to those MWD's that have earned the honors that we award their human counterparts. A ban was put in place by a general that did not like the fact that a dog should be honored for doing what his troops were expected to do. It is time to end that prejudicial ban and insure that those dogs that have earned the honors receive the honors.
As a military veteran, I support giving these brave animals their due in this respect.
