End the war on drugs

The drug war was officialy declared on June 18 , 1971 by the impeached President of The United States , Richard Nixon. It has without a doubt been an unmitigated failure  which continues to wreck havoc on communities, individuals and entire countries. It is estimated that more than 4.7 billion dollars per year is spent in Australia alone with tens of thousands of people prosecuted each year, which leads to family breakups , social issues and the proliferation of organized crime and police corruption.

It it is time to end this inhumane and failed war on drugs, and implement major reforms on the supply and regulation of current illegal substances.

To the Australian Senate,

This petition has been created to give the people a voice who wish to see the immediate end to the failed war on drugs. We challenge the senate to make the right choices based on facts rather than popularity and misinformed good intentions. Only sweeping legislative changes can bring about real change to bring and end to this unwinnable war.
