Red pandas are an endangered species, today there may be only around 2500 are left in the wild (citation, Red Panda Network, see below). But there are many endangered species, so you may be wondering why I have chosen this one.
There are two main reasons: Firstly, on this site, there is only one petition still open that shouts for red panda conservation, compared with pages upon pages for elephants and sharks and lions, etc..
Secondly, their slaughter is preventable. They are traded as pets, they, are killed for bushmeat, made into traditional medicines and they are turned into hats! Fighting against habitat destruction is nearly impossible, but raising awareness, showing people that a red panda as a pet is wrong! That could save this species from extinction.
So please, sign this petition, help us hit 10000 signatures, and tell people this: 'Red Pandas are not pets or hats or food or medicine, they are wild animals, that live in trees, not homes.'
Together, we can put pressure on world leaders to better conserve this wonderful species.

Wow, really closing in on 10,000 signatures now. The final push, and at 10,000 signatures, I will hand this petition over to red panda network so that they can use it to help to save the red panda. Thank you to everyone who has supported me in this, and just 840 more signatures till this petition can be used to its full potential.
