Please provide protection for pets in DV cases

Dear House of Representatives, Senators and Congress,

We the undersigned are writing this letter in regards to animals and pets that are abused in domestic violence cases! All too often, pets are abused and often killed by the abuser as a way to control his/her victim(s). Unfortunately, research has shown that animal abuse is closely linked with domestic violence! Only 10 states in the U.S. provide protective orders for pets protecting them from the abuser that include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Nevada, New York, Tennessee and Vermont. Unfortunately, Georgia and many other states in the U.S. are not among the list of states that protect animals and pets from domestic violence abuse!

Please sirs and madams, help us to provide protection for the innocent animals that get caught in the crossfires of domestic violence! These poor animals can not speak for themselves. We are their voice! We must help protect our pets and animals!
