Protect the Individual Freedom to Give to the Homeless

Councilman John G. Clamp of District 10, San Antonio, TX, has proposed and ordinance that would prohibit individuals or motorists from giving any monetary donation to homeless persons living on the streets. If caught doing this, the "offender" (also known as the donator/Good Samaritan) will be issued a warning; any subsequent violations will result in a citation with fines and penalties increasing in severity. We are asking Mayor Julian Castro and San Antonio City Council members to vote "NO" on this proposed ordinance and protect the individual's right to give monetary support to the homeless individuals without fear of repercussions.

We the Undersigned, want to encourage Mayor Julian Castro and our San Antonio City Councilmembers to vote "NO" against the proposed ordinance to enforce penalties against individuals and motorists from giving money to homeless persons. We believe it is the individual's right to give monies to homeless persons on the street without fear of reprecussion. We urge you to consider the voices of your constituents who are not in favor of this proposed ordinance and to vote for the will of the people and their freedom to give. We thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.
