A New Dorm Before A New Student Union

On our campus, North Carolina Central University, there is a limited amount of housing, with hundreds of students on the waiting list. Freshman class is the only class guaranteed housing and with the rapid growth of the freshman class there is less space for the upperclassmen, who are not guaranteed housing. Administration has decided to invest money towards a new student union to bring in more students. Although, building a student union is a great attribute to the college, how can we bring in more students when we can't house our current students? Instead of focusing on bringing in more students, let's focus on being able to house our current students by building a new dorm or renovating Old Chidley. By doing this, NCCU will be able to accommodate first year and current students as well as relieve the stress of students trying to balance classes and where to live. By signing this petition you would be agreeing that NCCU needs to renovate Old Chidley and/or build a new dorm hall before building a new student union.
