Support Double Pay for Holiday Employees!

Retailers just can't wait to open their doors for holiday sales, and over the past few years we've seen them moving Black Friday events further and further back. Now, many workers are forced to sacrifice their holiday family time to go into work or risk losing their jobs.

Opening earlier hasn't even proven profitable for businesses. Eager customers simply shift their purchases earlier, when they would otherwise shop on Black Friday. In the end, the profits balance out and employees have to give up a holiday for nothing.

Businesses need to learn the value of holiday time. A new bill introduced in California would require companies to pay double to employees coming to work on national holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Please sign the petition to urge California's legislators to pass this new bill!

We, the undersigned, are concerned that retailers have been forcing employees to work on national holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, for no other reason than to start shopping events earlier.
