Georgia: No Parental Rights for Rapists!

Georgia is not one of the 33 states that restricts parental rights, including custody and visitation, for rapists whose children were conceived as a result of their assault.

This puts mothers at risk for further harassment and manipulation from their abusers, and could force them to keep in contact with them until their children reach adulthood.

The trauma of being raped is deep enough without adding additional emotional and financial burdens onto the mother. Around one-third of mothers whose children are conceived through rape choose to keep those children. It's time for Georgia to give those mothers peace of mind and pass legislation to cut off parental rights for rapists!

We, the undersigned, are concerned that Georgia is not one of the 33 states that restricts parental rights, including custody and visitation, for rapists whose children were conceived as a result of their assault.

We respectfully urge you to give those mothers peace of mind and pass legislation to cut off parental rights for rapists. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
