Make Hunters Responsible For Their Dogs

During hunting season in Cyprus every Sunday and Wednesday afternoon hunters go out with their dogs to shoot anything that moves around their villages.

Every Monday and Thursday morning there is at least one hunting dog per village roaming around either simply abandoned or full of shotgun pellets because they were "unable to hunt".

Dog pounds and sanctuaries all over the island are full of these creatures. And they are the lucky ones. There have been many dogs just left to die at the side of the road or in a field. They are not microchipped and the owners never claim them, seeing them as 'useless'.

Hunters should be responsible for their dogs! And the government should do something to ensure as such!

When a hunter is given his license for the season he should also have to register ay dogs that will be hunting with them. These should be microchipped or tattooed so at hat if found they can be either given back to the owner or the owner fined for abandonment.

Please help to bring justice for these animals whose only crime was the inability to catch a sparrow as it fell out of the sky.
