Remove Johnston County Schools Attendance Policy

Last year (2018-2019) the county had removed the attendance policy. It strongly benefited the student body by giving students the opportunity to not have to stress about only using their absences for doctor, family emergencies, etc. This allowed the student(s) and their family to go in vacations, take animals to vet appointments, etc. I do think that the majority of the student body does understand the importance of coming to school and the benefits it will have on our present and futures selves. For the students who abused the freedom; if they were able to maintain good grades and get their work done, they should be able to miss more than the current allotted 4 unexcused days of school. The students who simply just did not care, they are only hurting themselves. And when they move on from high school and possibly go to college or get a job, they won’t be punished the same way they are here. They will just be removed from the class or place of employment. By removing this policy once again, it will teach students the responsibility of attending school and showing up for things on their own.
