Residency restrictions for sex offenders

I am a current resident of the state of Wisconsin and it has come to my attention that many cities within the state fail to have sex offender residency restrictions for those that have been placed on the sex offender registry for committing sexual related crimes. A bill was put forth in 2009 that would have made it a state wide bill making residency restrictions put in place, however nothing came of that bill. I feel that it is absolutely ridiculous that it was not put through.

These are our children that we are talking about, and our precious children should not have to worry about not being able to play outside, go to the park, the library or even school because sex offenders are allowed to live where ever they want. As of right now the city of Oshkosh allows sex offenders to live near schools, libraries, parks, children's clubs and even work and live with children. How can we protect our children if the Government allows them to live right next door to them. I am a mother of two and currently there are at least 10 sex offenders who live on my block, most of which being convicted of possession of child pornography, as well as first and second degree sexual assault of a child. I am deathly scared of allowing my children out in the backyard to play because there is so much of a threat out there.

So what I am asking is that each and every one of you that feels that we need to do more to protect our children and the children around us to sign this petition and tell Governor Scott Walker that a change needs to be made to make our cities a safer place to live, for not only ourselves but for our children.
