Comprehensive Sex Education for Texas!

Texas has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the United States. Many districts have abstinence-only based sex education, which has been proven in multiple studies to be ineffective at preventing teen pregnancy and STIs. Even the non-abstinence-only programs are not required to include LGBT students, and many programs shame the victims of sexual assault or give no information about it at all, despite the fact that the CDC estimates that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys have been sexually abused. Neither program is required to provide completely factual information. All students should be given equal, accurate, inclusive sex education. Factual information on anatomy, contraceptives, sex, STIs, and sexual assault should be required for every school district. Abstinence should be a choice. It shouldn't be the only choice.
