Stop the slaughter of migrant birds

The slaughter of migrant birds has been carried on for centuries and that is partly why it is so hard to stop it. These birds are born in northern Europe and migrate to Africa for the winter, keeping up with the swarms of insects that recede as the winter sets in. The birds also need to fly in flocks, and they easily get tired and thirsty, therefore needing often to fly low or land. They are easy prey for the "brave" hunters. I have seen big containers of marinated swallow's breasts in butchers' shops in southern France. But there is also plenty of chicken and pork, they can eat that stuff, and not prey on defenceless birds.
