Protect Senior Citizens' Access to Food

Many senior citizens are finding themselves in poverty and are unable to meet basic human needs like heat, food, shelter, and health care. Without access to food, a person’s quality of life is negatively impacted as it affects their physical and mental health. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) was created to assist people in poverty get access to nutritious food. However, SNAP is becoming increasingly more restrictive on who they are going to help. H. R. 2832 “Welfare Reform and Upward Mobility” is a proposed bill that will cut out assistance to the elderly by increasing work requirements that are impossible and improbable for the elderly to complete. Help protect the health and quality of life of this aging population by opposing this policy and persevere the right of everyone having access to food.
