Save Canada Post Home Delivery

 Made one more point

Canada Post is switching residents from door-to-door mail delivery to community mailbox delivery. This decision will disproportionately affect the elderly and Canadians living with disabilities, for whom home delivery of letters and parcels provides a critical link. Residents who are being switched to community mailboxes have been told that these boxes are less susceptible to vandalism and theft than home mailboxes. Community mailboxes are no safer than regular mail boxes (1)  and have additional problems in terms of accessibility, litter, snow build-up and the environment. Additionally these community mailboxes would make it easier for identity thieves by putting everything in 1 convent area to steal from. Canada Post prefers to deliver mail to community mailboxes because it costs less (2), even though it makes millions of dollars each year that could be invested in maintaining and extending door-to-door delivery. Canada Post’s leadership should be exploring options for growth and innovation not cutting services.
