Abolishing Parts of the Dress Code

Because of certain dress code requirements, kids are not able to express themselves appropriately. I understand that some of the rules are actually needed, like making sure your dress or shorts are not too short or your shirt isn't too low in the front. But the rules against piercings? There is nothing in my school handbook that states why piercings shouldn't be allowed. They are not a distraction, they have never prevented anyone from learning. And especially, they are a way for kids to express themselves and find out who they are and who they want to be.
