Thank You Google for Legalize Love Campaign
Google’s latest campaign shows just how much it follows its motto “Don’t be evil”. Its latest campaign ‘Legalize Love’ calls for the decriminalization of homosexuality and the elimination of homophobia around the globe.
Google, which has more than 70 offices in 40 countries around the world, believes that its gay and lesbian workers should be given equal rights both in and out of the office. Working with other corporations, such as Ernst & Young and Citigroup, it plans to lobby governments that discriminate against the LGBT community, focusing on countries like Singapore, where certain homosexual activities are illegal, and Poland, which doesn’t recognise same sex couples.
This is not the first time Google has publically supported the LGBT community; in 2010, it decided to increase pay to gay and lesbian workers in the US to compensate for the disparity between heath insurance benefits for homosexual and heterosexual couples.
Let’s thank Google for standing up for equality. SIGN&SHARE TODAY!
We are writing to thank you for initializing the ‘Legalize Love’ campaign.
Frequently, corporations around the world are criticised for using their political power to sway governments for their own personal and self-serving benefits, ignoring the impact their actions may have on local communities.
With this initiative, you are showing your corporation to be not just aware of the injustices suffered by your workers on a daily basis, but with the desire to improve the situation. Furthermore, by lobbying governments in countries where homophobia and discrimination exist, you are using your power and influence to improve the lives of not only your workers, but of all those who are discriminated against. In addition, this action will provide tremendous support to local LGBT activists who have previously struggled to be heard at a political level.
We believe that Google is setting a very positive example for other corporations. Hopefully, they too will recognise the long term benefits of promoting equality and follow suit.
Thank you for showing world leadership.
