Ban Horse Slaughter In New Jersey

New Jersey horse owners and lovers alike are trying to save horses from cruel and slow slaughter through their vocal support of a statewide slaughter ban. Now, it’s up to Governor Christie to protect horses from being killed and processed into food.

Horse slaughter is in a gruesome category of its own, as the horses are not killed quickly or painlessly. Horses are difficult to kill because of their size, so they often remain alive during the last blows and dismemberment.

New Jersey’s residents are speaking out against shipping the state’s horses in cramped conditions with no food, water, or rest to Europe’s slaughterhouses--but Governor Christie still hasn't signed the bill banning horse abuse!

Tell Governor Christie to support a state ban on horse slaughter, the transport of horses for slaughter, and the sale of horsemeat for human consumption.
Dear Governor Christie,

New Jersey’s residents, state Senate, and Assembly are completely opposed to the inhumane horse slaughter industry. The bill to ban horse slaughter has been on your desk since July--but we are still waiting for the signature that would protect horses from heinous acts of cruelty.

Horses are not killed quickly or easily, resulting in brutal beatings that torture the horses up to their final breath. Please put an end to New Jersey’s horse shipments that overstuff the animals into trucks without food, water, or rest--so they can suffer even before arriving at a slaughterhouse.

Protect New Jersey’s horses by ending horse-slaughter and prohibiting horses from being sold for human consumption!

Sincerely,
