Ban the Eating of Cat Meat in Peru

The killing and consumption of cats is a barbaric practice that no longer has a place in modern society.

Progress is being made: a recent ruling has outlawed the ritual killing and eating of cats at the festival of Curruñao.  As Sonia Cordova, president of the animal rights commission, explained, the Curruñao festival "tortured and blew up cats so they could later be eaten."

However, the ruling only applied to the festival of Curruñao, in the small town of San Luis, south of Lima.

This petition calls on the Ministry of Health to extend the law throughout all of Peru.
