Put a Resident Suicide/Depression Counselor in All Public School Systems

Over the last couple years, in my school system and schools around me there have been multiple suicides involving students. Many of my friends have felt depressed throughout high school. It would be to many students benefit for the schooling system to provide a way for students to get help when that help is needed. As a high school student myself I know that the workload can be stressful and with many students now getting jobs and participating in other extra-curricular activities, it can be hard not to be overwhelmed.

Society needs to realize the growing epidemic of suicide in our youth and take action! Although we have counselors who can give guidance and help with most things in the students life. A specialized counselor would be much better suited to give advice on how to deal with feelings of stress, anxiety and depression. One for every school district would be ideal, but for more rural locations if a few districts were to share a counselor throughout the week it may be applicable. These counselors would help immensely with cyber bully victims, depressed teens and other terrible situations. Thank you for signing!
