Based on reports, little is known about the little orange cat from Illinois -- we don't know its name, how old it is, or its gender.
But what we do know is that this cat didn't deserve what happened to it this past summer.The poor kitty was battered in the head and face with a literal hammer,
attacked by the very person who was meant to be giving it care, love, and safety.Sign the petition and demand that, in addition to his other sentences, this cat's owner receive a complete lifetime ban on animal ownership!What happened began to come to light in August, when police first received word that there were some animals that may be victims of cruelty --
one report to the authorities included a photo of the orange cat in question, its face completely covered in blood.Once police got there, things were even worse than they could've imagined. The cat's owner claimed that he hit it in the face with a hammer because he was trying to get it out of a bathroom.
In what world is that kind of force and violence warranted? Worse still was the fact that
the owner had not sought medical treatment for the cat, which was also extremely malnourished. There were also other animals in the man's care that were suffering from malnourishment and other injuries.
Luckily, the man forfeited the cat to the authorities, who rushed it to a vet. The diagnoses?
Severe head trauma and a nosebleed.We are so glad that this cat is now safe and recovering, and its attacker is being charged with a crime. If convicted of the felony level, he could serve some prison time --
but what's to stop this man from victimizing more animals once his sentence is served behind bars?To truly keep the other animals in this community safe, we need to see this man receive a lifetime ban on owning animals.
