Group strep b is a potentionally life threatening infection in newborns when not diagnosed and treated efficiently. My son contracted strep b meningitis at birth due to him not being tested for it even though I was diagnosed as strep b postive at 29 weeks gestation. My son could of died. Fortunately for us we were lucky and he received treatment in time. However not all babies are so lucky. Too many parents are left heartbroken every year after having lost their precious babies because of this infection. Group strep b testing is currently not MANDATORY and I am petitioning to change this! The GOVERMENT won't find this test which costs as little as TEN POUND!!! It makes me angry to think they can put a price on our babies lives!!! Sign this petition today to help me make a change! No child should have to go through what my son went through and no parent should have to say goodbye to their baby due to lack of funding! If the NHS and the government can fund plastic surgery why can't they fund these crucial and life saving tests? Help me make a difference!!!!!
