President Obama - Condemn Mexico's Human Rights Violations

Mexico has been murdering its citizens in peaceful protests, while the US turns their head the other way. In the most recent protest thousands of unarmed Indigenous teachers were confronted by heavily armed police, who, at government's orders were teargassed and shot at. Nine people were killed and countless other injured.

These human rights violations are nothing new under President Peña Nieto's term. However, despite the US, in the recent Three Amigos Summit, urging stronger relations with Mexico, the human rights violations were never confronted.

If the US is going to become a closer trade partner with Mexico it must pressure that country to uphold the human rights of all its citizens and stop the state sanctioned police brutality against peaceful protestors.

Sign now to call on the US to condemn Mexico's human rights violations. By signing today you are helping to send a strong message that human rights are more important than trade profits.

To President Barack Obama,

As a person who cares deeply about the human rights of all people, I urge you to use your bettering relationship with Mexico to confront that government about the human rights abuses happening currently against peaceful protestors.

The US must ensure that their close trade partners are upholding the standards of human rights that the US has in their country. By allowing these violations to be ignored, the US disregards the basic human rights of the Mexican people and is implicated in the violence against them.
