She Made Her Cats Wade Through Weeks' Worth of Poop.

While cleaning the cat litter box isn't necessarily fun, it's crucial for the health and wellbeing of animals (and their humans)! That's why one cat mom was aghast to find that her roommate -- also a cat mom -- refused to frequently clean her cats' litter boxes. In fact, the roommate apparently only scooped the litter once every month or two, leaving her poor animals to wade through weeks' worth of feces and urine every time they needed to use the bathroom.

Animal adoption sites must educate potential pet parents on their responsibilities before they adopt new pets. Sign the petition if you agree!

Just like humans, cats are horrified at the idea of using a bathroom covered in old waste. As excrement piles up, bacteria flourishes, essentially becoming a petri dish. This not only smells foul -- it also is completely unhygienic. Naturally, the roommate's animals began avoiding their filthy, unsanitary litter boxes and began to use the floors instead.

Since the little cats couldn't speak for themselves, the woman who watched this unfold tried to intervene on behalf of their health and safety. Unfortunately, talking to her roommate went nowhere, and she was continuously ignored. The litter boxes continued to fill up, and the animals continued to use the floor.

The concerned woman even tried contacting an animal welfare organization, but unfortunately they weren't able to assist her. So, not knowing what else to do, she took to the internet.

On her TikTok account, she recorded a video of herself explaining that leaving cats in unsanitary conditions is animal abuse, and highlighted how important cat litter maintenance is for taking care of felines. The video instantly went viral, with hundreds of thousands of people viewing it, and hundreds commenting in sympathy with the kitties.

Sign the petition to tell animal adoption centers, including pet stores like PetCo and PetSmart, that they must thoroughly educate customers on what it takes to be a safe and healthy pet parent! All new pet owners should be required to know how to take care of their animals, for everyone's sake.
