Remove North Chicago's ACO from office

North Chicago, IL ACO doesn't care about the animals, has left animals caged and unattended for days, and doesn't check for microchips when trapping cats.

The shih tzu in this picture is from the North Chicago IL animal control, and was left in his kennel in December with the door open while he was wet.  He was shivering, freezing without any beds or blankets in the kennel, looking up asking for help and was LEFT THERE until transported to a shelter. He's fine now, but wouldn't have been if left in this animal control.

Twice animals in this animal control were left alone and untended for days without food or water, left to sleep in their own urine and feces.  In 2009 the animals died, but in November of 2011 some neighboring animal control officers went in and cleaned the kennels, fed and watered the poor dogs.  They had been left alone for 6 days!!

Most recently this ACO trapped some TNR cats, reportedly leaving them in their traps, about 12" x 36" for FIVE days, without food or water, and not checking them for microchips which is IL state law.  Finally he loaded them in his truck, still in their tiny cages and took them to a shelter about an hour away.  There the shelter discovered they were microchipped to the local Spay and Stay, and a volunteer was called in to pick them up.
They are now safe, fed and watered with their microchips intact.

There have been so many complaints about this Animal Control Officer, but many are afraid to come forward since the police department runs the animal control.  Please sign this petition to remove the current Animal Control Officer in North Chicago IL from office and encourage the mayor to replace him with someone who knows and obeys the laws of IL, cares about the animals, and doesn't hurt the animals of North Chicago.

We the undersigned, would like the current animal control officer, Ted, of North Chicago IL to be fired and replaced by an animal control officer who knows and obeys the law, cares about the animals and can physically do the job without having people standing by load dogs into the AC truck.  We would like a new animal control officer to be appointed to North Chicago IL so the animals in this town are treated as they deserve to be, and the citizens of North Chicago can feel secure that their animals will be safely and legally taken care of.
