No homework or excused absent day for Diwali

Students get a no homework day or excused absence on Diwali day.

Students currently don't get a day off to celebrate one the biggest traditional holiday celebrations with their families. We would like children an excused absense as well as no homework for kids and families that celebrate Diwali holiday.
If parents like kids can stay home and not be penalized for celebrating their holiday and not have to worry about homework.
Diwali is a major holiday of India and its the experience as Christmas, thanksgiving, July fourth and Easter combined into one. It's a grand festival with a grand celebration.

There are about 200 individuals who celebrate Diwali.
