Richard Mourdock -- Don't Compare Chrysler Bailout to Slavery!

United States Senate candidate for Indiana Richard Mourdock is comparing slavery to President Obama's Chrysler bailout. He argued that it's like the Civil War, with Obama and the Democrats in the role of slave owners.

Mourdock spoke to a Dallas crowd about how the bailout showed the "same principle" that Lincoln did in his debates with Stephen Douglas. A king living off of what his subjects made is the same as one race enslaving another for their own gain, Lincoln said. Mourdock thinks that this is the same as the "tyrannical principle" of the bailout -- because taxpayers have their assets used by the government.

This is not even comparable. Using taxpayer money for a bailout is not at all the same as the enslavement of thousands of individuals that weren't even seen as people, but as property. Tell Richard Mourdock that this is extremely offensive and to not compare the Chrysler bailout to slavery!

I am writing to you today concerning comments you made about the Chrysler bailout and slavery. You compared the two, saying that Obama and Democrats were acting in the "role" of slave owners.

This is extremely offensive. Using taxpayer money for a bailout cannot be compared to the enslavement of thousands of individuals that were not even seen as people.
