Demand Canadian Border Control Receive Proper Training on Transgender Rights!

Avery Edison, a transgendered comedian, came to Canada to visit some friends. Unfortunately, she was detained. Despite being listed as female on her passport, Avery was placed in a male correctional facility. Additionally, she was frequently referred to as "he". Throughout the process, Avery felt as though the Canadian Border Control didn't know what to do with her, and she was even told she was the first transgendered person they had dealt with.

Canada is known for having great rights for LGBT people, yet this incident shows the Canadian Border Agency falls short. Working to establish guidelines to help the border patrol treat transgendered people respectfully, and providing training in these programs could go a long way in ensuring no one else is treated as Avery was.

Tell the Government of Canadian to provide the Canadian Border Patrol with proper training on transgender and civil rights!
