Demand the removal of political trees on the Sam's Bennet Complex

The Sam Bennent Sports Complex has been in the black community for over 50 years. The Eagles field as it is known to the residents has been a safe haven since before integration for our people. Albert Green of Bluffton utilized his resources to create what we see today as the Sam Bennet Sports Complex. On October 22, 2014, a man associated with the annexation by the name of James Ayers received a tree dedication for his participation in the sewer and side walk project for Buckisland and Simmonsville Road on the Sam Bennet Sports Complex. The field that was derived from our ancestors is now being targeted for political gain by allowing them to dedicate a tree to someone whom has not been all that beneficial to our community. The example of trees that should be dedicated are the loves of Albert Green, Kyla G. Brown, Ida B. Martin, S. Y. Brown, Rebecca Fields, Hattie Brown, Oscar Frazier, Brad Hamilton, Latoya Pinckney, and Polly Ann Mitchell. Are just some names that come to mind of people that deserve trees dedicated. The Sam Bennet Sports Complex is one of the last places that the black community has decisions over. The Sam Bennet sports complex is now owned by the Bluffton Eagles Action Committee which is suppose to represent the community. We need the community to stand up and fight for our field that represents our community.
