Keep The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store Open

The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store provides low cost clothing and house wares to the citizens of Manistee County.  The tax payers of this county feel the people would be better served by moving the store back into the building already owned or to find a less costly location.  By closing the store, many lives will be effected.  Every item in the store is a direct donation from the community.  The funds raised by the sales of the donated items is then returned to the community through the Social Services provided and with the cost of running the store.  In addition, closing the store will put hard to place persons back into the unemployed status, increasing our already growing poverty level in Manistee.  We understand there has been a loss in profit over the last three years, however, in the last 10 (ten) month the store has had record sales and has profitable weeks.  It is almost summer time, the busy season for Manistee.  Keep the Salvation Army Family Thrift Store open, find a different location, help provide for the families of the citizens of Manistee and the employees of the store, and Do The Most Good.
