Man COOKED TO DEATH inside Tuna Oven, Demand Stricter Safety Regulations!

In October 2012, Jose Melena entered a 35-foot oven at Bumble Bee's Santa Fe Springs, California plant to make a repair. Two of his co-workers did not realize he was inside and therefore began loading the oven with tuna. They turned on the oven, and shut the door. Hours later, they returned to find Melena's seared remains inside the pressure cooker oven.

Despite causing the unthinkable, gruesome death of this man, Bumble Bee refuses to own up to their actions and the charges that were filed against them, as they stated, "We disagree with and are disappointed by the charges filed by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.”

This tragedy could have been easily prevented had an emergency escape been installed in the machine, as well as by enforcing stricter safety regulations and employee safety training. Please sign this petition to demand Bumble Bee Foods enforce stricter regulations and proper machinery to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
