I have recently joined your network and I truly believe there should be more concern about ·$%&&%' up things than are happening everywhere. I live in Bogotá, Colombia. This city can be an amazing place for the people that has the opportunity, but this country has a huge history of ignoring the people without the money. Right now, there has come to my attention a disturbing fact involving the future of recycling, an activity that has been mostly done by folks with very low resources. Some of these folks have families and actually pay their children%u2019s public schools with the income they get from recycling. This income is merely enough, cause they get paid not by the time they walk or by the digging they must do in everyone's trash, but mainly their are paid by the weight of the materials.
My concern stands in the fact that there's a law coming up soon. As I and other more qualified people understand, this law is pretty much making it illegal for them to continue with their only way of survive.
It's more interesting, that this law actually benefits private companies, and must of all, a company that belongs to our dearest president sons.
I'm not going to make criticism about the government in here, because I don't have enough space, because I don%u2019t want to be tagged as a terrorist, and cause is not the matter at hand right now. What I do hope is for someone outside the country to read this and go to the links below in order for someone to dig more deep, or at least get the message to someone in the press.
I believe, that as an international network, this information might get away from the media hands of my country. You should now that the main newspaper is owned by the ex- Defense Minister's family... used to be the president right hand... just wicked.
I remember when the media started to expose a bit of the dubious nature of the president%u2019s sons company, it happened, but it wasn't due to recyclers, it had to do with how they got the property. But then the swine flu came and that was the news of the next two months.
Please, understand that this is not an attack against my Government. I would do this same thing if the one behind it were my father or my mother. But it turns out the law I mentioned benefits the wealthiest to give them more money.
That's a problem her and in lot's of other countries. The money is there, but is not well delivered. But that pattern is insane here, for example, must congress men earn 28 times the minimum wage. You would think that may happen in the U.S too, but even there the proportion goes below, because it's 13 times the minimum wage.
Anyway, if this thing keeps going like this, the recyclers will loose more than they already have. If they loose their job, the social environment and perhaps the health environment might get more chaotic. If you have live poverty in any way, you should know what comes in mind when one's found without chances. What if these recyclers can't get another job, must of them have done that forever cause is the only thing they can; in fact, not must of them live in the streets, but they can handle themselves and eventually they will take what they have to. I'm talking about 20.000 people loosing their income.
If that happens, then 'what not' could happen.
I%u2019m sorry for my writing mistakes, this is not my language, but I'm sure I made my point.
