Compensate Connecticut Victims Of Sexual Assault that occurred in State Offices

In 1995 it came to light that 15 male youth were repeatedly sexually assaulted by Probation Officer Richard Straub.  These assaults occurred in the Connecticut Office of Adult Probation in Danielson Ct.  Many of these abuses occurred for years on State property, in a State office, during normal business hours.  The State of Connecticut is as responsible for what happened in its offices as the Churches are for the sexual assaults that occurred in their vestibules.  Due to the serious nature of these assaults many of the victims suffer long term mental illness, Post traumatic Stress Syndrome, and depression.  Many are unemployed long term and otherwise marginalized.  Their lives have been shattered.

To Date the State of Connecticut has made NO effort to compensate these victims whatsoever.

At the same time Connecticut has spent millions of dollars assisting sexual assault victims of the Norwich Ct and Hartford Ct Catholic Diocese.  Connecticut has also spent millions of dollars assisting the victims of Dr George Reardon who abused boys at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.  Connecticut modified laws and went to court on behalf of these victims and assisted them in gaining recompense from St. Francis Hospital where the assaults occurred.  the State of Connecticut has spent millions more dollars assisting other victims of sexual assault as well.

Yet when a Probation Officer raped young boys in a State Office on aregular basis during normal business hours Connecticut remains silent.  Not one finger has been lifted to correct these injustices.  Not one penny of compensation has been paid.

The perpetrator of these crimes however did receive a $4000.00+ a month pension for life from Connecticut...

Richard Blumenthal, former States Attorney and now Senator was repeatedly asked to help these victims.  Other State Officials have been approached as well.  They all remain silent and entreaties go ignored.  Connecticut has completely turned its back on these victims.

This is not Justice.  This is not Equal.  And it is wrong!
