Tell Republicans -- Voters Should Be Allowed to Pick Their Own Senators!

Representative Jeff Flake told a Republican event in Payson, Arizona, that he thinks the United States should abolish the Seventeenth Amendment that allows voters to elect their own senators.

Before the ratification of the Seventeenth Amendment, the Constitution had senators elected through state legislatures. This was changed because the system led to corruption, allowing elections to be heavily swayed by money interests.

Unfortunately, Flake is not alone on his view on this -- Indiana Senate Candidate Richard Mourdock, Missouri Senate Candidate Rep. Todd Akin, Texas Governor Rick Perry, and Sen. Mike Lee are some of the other "Seventeenther" Republicans.

Please tell the "Seventeenther" Republicans that voters should be allowed to pick their own senators, and that we stand with the Seventeenth Amendment!

Dear "Seventeenther" Republicans,

I am writing today concerning you all's views on the Seventeenth Amendment. You all, as a group, believe that the United States should abolish this amendment and no longer let voters decide who their own senators are.

Before voters decided, US Senators were basically "bought" because the system was so corrupt that money interests had an intense, heavy hand in elections.

Voters should be allowed to pick their own senators.

Thank you for your time.
