SURFURY AND A PERMANENT MARITIME MUSEUM

The world famous powerboat "SURFURY" was donated to the nation by the Gardner Brothers but has spent many years out of the public eye. At the same time the hard work of the Classic Boat Museum to maintain a proper museum on the Isle of Wight which recognises the boat building history of the Island and our maritime nation is constantly under threat of closure.
We the undersigned now demand that the appropriate action is taken within the redevelopment of East Cowes to create a Permanent Maritime Museum that will reflect the History, Achievements and Worldwide success enjoyed by British sailors, Boatbuilders and Designers. Such a Museum would also at last provide a permanent home to "SURFURY" and other distinctive craft that the public have a right to see.
