Don't Sacrifice the Eli Jackson Cemetery for the Border Wall!

The historical cemetery sits about one mile inland from the Rio Grande River and several feet south of a levee where Customs and Border Protection’s new fencing may be built this year. Its proximity to the levee where the new barriers may be built has raised fears that the bodies will be exhumed and the cemetery razed for the project.

Customs and Border Protection claim that they have no intention of disturbing the cemetery, but CBP plans to clear 150 feet south of the levee, meaning that sacred ground could be in peril.

It is disgraceful that constructing President Trump's hateful wall could entail disturbing the graves of veterans and land that is sacred to the Carrizo/Comecrudo Native American tribe. Please leave the Eli Jackson Cemetery alone - better yet, don't waste resources and taxpayer money on the wall in the first place.
