Investigate McGinnis Chicken Farm for Horrific Cruelty

  • af: Sue Lee
  • mottagare: Secretary Ed Kee, Cabinet Secretary of Agriculture

A report and undercover video from Mercy for Animals shows horrific abuse of chickens at the McGinnis Farms in Dagsboro, Delaware.  Video footage shows baby birds being bred to grow so quickly that they become crippled under their own weight, workers carelessly kicking, clubbing, and throwing chickens, and thousands of severely sick and injured animals left to suffer without proper veterinary care or access to food and water.

Other alleged abuse includes crates of chicks being tossed and thrown, leading to broken bones and other severe injuries along with cramming hundreds of birds into filthy, windowless sheds for lengthy periods, struggling to survive within their own waste and toxic fumes.

Tyson foods is known to be one of the largest meat producers in the world. This company has a responsibility to maintain animal welfare standards in all of their farms.

Please sign this petition to urge the Department of Agriculture to intervene and conduct an investigation into animal abuse taking place at this facility.  If these birds are indeed being abused as presented in the report and video footage, we want to ensure the conditions change immediately and any supposed abusers be held accountable!

Secretary Ed Kee, Cabinet Secretary of Agriculture – We encourage you to do a thorough investigation at the McGinnis Farms in Dagsboro, Delaware in an effort to determine if any laws have been or are being broken at the facility.  Undercover video has presented some alleged footage of possible abuse of the chickens.  We need to ensure that the animals are treated appropriately according to all animal welfare requirements.  If found guilty of abuse or breaking any laws, please make those responsible held accountable.  Be a voice for those defenseless animals and ensure they are being treated properly and humanely.
