We Need a Skatepark in Ontario Ca.

Local individuals who practice the sport of skateboarding do not have a designated area in which they can exercise their hobby/passion. Hence, our team proposes to petition for and create a policy in which Ontario officials implement a skate park in the city of Ontario for local skateboarders. https://www.gofundme.com/WeWantASkateparkInOntario


Why this is a Problem

- Skateboarders must travel to Ayala Skate Park in Chino but some do not have access to transportation into another city, others are not permitted to do so by their parents
- Skateboarders oftentimes trespass into private properties to practice their hobby/passion
- Skateboarders will make use of any available public space to practice skateboarding, which interferes with other public activity

How it affects my community/Why it is important

- Because some skateboarders do not have access to an area in which they can practice the sport, they are either forced to contain their passions or leave them behind altogether which leaves them at a disadvantage.
- Private properties, such as schools, oftentimes suffer damages caused by skateboarders who are partially careless of course, but also deprived of a designated space to skateboard.
-Public properties suffer damages as well. But many public properties ban skateboards which once again leaves the skateboarders with two choices: run the risk of being issued a ticket, or give up their hobby/passion.


Our group is interested in working to fix this issue because our school has suffered minor property damages as a result of skateboarders who sneak into the school after hours to practice their sport. We also feel that those who enjoy skateboarding are at a disadvantage by not being granted a local park in which their sport may be legally and more adequately practiced. Aside from being at a disadvantage we feel the skateboarders have coined a negative reputation in our community because of the property damages they cause, and although they are partially at fault for being careless, this would not be a fact amidst the community if they had an area in which they could more accessible practice skateboarding.
